11/17/20- Congratulations to Susanne Waldt, of Greenwich Twp, our WCEA ESP of the Year! Woo-hoo! Sue was awarded this honor during our virtual ESP Eve on 11/17/20!
11/16/20- Now that we have wrapped up a successful NJEA Together from Home Convention, we want to extend the great learning and networking experiences for our members. We are suggesting that members take a closer look at the offerings on learning.njea.org. As you know, on the NJEA Learning page members can register for PD events as well as sessions hosted by our colleagues in other NJEA divisions. Please see the flyer HERE

10/19/20- TAKE ACTION! The 2020-2021 school year has already been unlike any other. Yet, educators are still being expected to write, submit, and achieve their Student Growth Objectives (SGOs), as if it were just another academic year. Confirmed Covid-19 cases have health officials mandating the quarantining of our students, our colleagues, and our schools, forcing educators to make unanticipated curricular shifts, with less than a day’s notice. Many educators are left unable to plan, with any degree of certainty, one day to the next, wreaking havoc on instructional continuity and consistency. In such an erratic educational climate, how can SGOs be reasonably attained, within the Department of Education’s evaluative model?
TAKE ACTION! Urge Interim Commissioner of Education Dehmer and Governor Murphy to waive SGOs for the 2020-2021 school year!
10/16/20- We may not be able to host any large meetings yet, but the WCEA is looking good thanks to a clean up held in September. The officers and some wonderful volunteer members came out on a Saturday morning to do some outside clean up and keep our offices ‘spiffy’ for when we can come together again. If your local needs a space to meet and stay socially distanced, our office is available with a meeting capacity of 10-12 people.
Please contact us via email to arrange for the building use.
10/15/20- Are you ready to support the NEA endorsed team of Biden/Harris? Come and pick up a lawn sign at the WCEA office next Wednesday, October 21st from 4-5:30. This will be a drive-thru event: drive up, open your trunk, and we will pop in your sign and you can drive away! It’s easy and it is free! Your officers will be at the office with signs ready. If you haven’t been to the WCEA office yet, it is easy to find right in the heart of Warren County! We are at 716 Route 57, Stewartsville, NJ 08886. We are right across from the Dennis Auction building.
WCEA is ‘hosting’ two other PD events for NJEA Learning next week on 10/20 and again on 10/21. The complete list of PD that we are hosting is available here: Warren PD
10/6/20- As a part of NJEA Learning, there will be an SGO Roundtable discussion tomorrow hosted by Elizabeth Yucis at 4:30 pm. The Zoom link can be found by logging into NJEA and going to the event listing under NJEA Learning. Learning.njea.org
9/30/20- Petitions are currently being circulated for state officer positions. Petitions are being signed digitally this year and potential candidates need signatures from every county. Be on the lookout for links shared by candidates. 9/15/20-WCEA is proud to be hosting virtual PD in conjunction with NJEA Learning. All counties will offer PD on a rotating schedule, offering many PD opportunities for our members. Although we look forward to the day when we can convene for in-person professional learning, we are optimistic about this new opportunity for our members to connect with peers across the state. The next PD opportunities being hosted by WCEA are on October 20th and 21st. Click here for more information.
8/10/20- WCEA supports NJ teachers, students, and families. Click here to read the letter sent to Gov. Murphy and the county superintendent.
6/30/20- Attention WCEA members! We have several committee vacancies for NJEA committees and we need you!
